Explore how Quinn Advisory Group helped one business support employee mental health with Disability Management Services

The Challenge

A Canadian trucking company faced a devastating workplace accident resulting in an employee’s death. The company needed comprehensive support to address the psychological trauma experienced by one particular employee and to navigate the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims process effectively.

The Quinn Advisory Group Solution

The company partnered with our disability management support team for end-to-end WCB claims management, ensuring thorough assistance throughout the entire claims process.

Assessment & Planning

The company engaged with our support team through the employer portal, setting up the file within one business day and assigning a primary case manager. Trauma counseling was arranged, and a psychological evaluation was expedited and scheduled before submitting the claim to the WCB.

The Action & Implementation

Intervention and Evaluation

The employee needed additional support to navigate the trauma of losing a team member. Our disability management support team advocated for counseling services in the employee’s native language. We scheduled a psychiatric evaluation within one month, significantly faster than the typical four to six-month wait time. As a result, the claim was approved just ten days after the evaluation.

Return-to-Work Plan

We provided ongoing support throughout the employee’s treatment, including a referral to the Return to Work (RTW) department. A progressive return-to-work plan was initiated and closely monitored, leading to the employee’s successful return to regular duties one month after the plan began.

The Result

We reduced the WCB claim resolution time from five months to four, ensuring the employee received necessary treatment and support promptly. The employee recovered and returned to work effectively, reducing claim duration and associated costs for the company, and creating a positive impact for both the employee and the organization.
